Editorial Guidelines
We run CyberInsider.com according to the following principles and guidelines.
1. Honesty and transparency
While we take our privacy seriously, we are real people trying to help others navigate the journey of digital security and online safety in an honest and transparent manner. All of our articles and reviews are based on real tests and research we have conducted ourselves (we never accept paid content).
2. We do not accept sponsored content, guest posts, paid reviews, or paid linking schemes
Many websites get paid to promote “guest posts” or “sponsored” content in one form or another. Additionally, many websites are paid for the strategic placement of links. CyberInsider.com does not participate in any paid/sponsored content, guest posts, or paid linking schemes.
We also do not participate in any form of paid reviews. In other words, if we review a product, we do it independently. We first purchase the product or service with our own money, then write the review based on our own testing and analysis. And if the product or service does not do well in the review, we will not be paid to change it (but we will always correct any mistakes or errors).
3. Human-written content that is up-to-date and factually accurate
Real humans write the content for CyberInsider.com. We strive for all of our articles to be factually accurate, up-to-date, and helpful to our readers. We do not use AI tools to mass-generate articles.
All content also goes through multiple stages of editorial review and fact-checking before being published. Articles that are published are regularly updated to ensure all information is factually accurate and true. Corrections and tips can be submitted on our contact page.
4. Compliance with Google Webmaster Guidelines
This site fully complies with Google's Webmaster Guidelines. All of the content on this site is original and based on our own research and work. We also keep things regularly updated to ensure our articles and reviews reflect the latest information about a product or service.
5. No invasive tracking
CyberInsider does not use Google Analytics or other invasive tracking software. Instead, the site uses Clicky, which anonymizes visitor IP addresses, is fully compliant with GDPR data privacy regulations, and is officially certified by Privacy Shield for data protection compliance.
6. No outside investors or third-party ownership
In the cybersecurity space, you can find various examples where the owners of a given product(s) also own websites that “review” the same products/services. It's obvious that this creates a conflict of interest — and in many cases there is no disclosure.
We of course frown on this practice and are proud to state that CyberInsider.com is a completely independent entity, with no financial ownership ties to any of the products or services we review.
How does CyberInsider pay the bills?
In order to operate the site and cover all costs and time involved, CyberInsider has a select few affiliates that align with our mission. If you purchase a router on Amazon or a VPN subscription through a link on this site, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
As a general rule, we refuse to work with companies that have bad track records and/or dishonest practices.
Aside from hosting and other fixed costs of running a website, an enormous amount of time is invested in researching, writing, and testing various privacy and security tools.
Affiliate Links
This site does contain affiliate links, for which we may earn a small commission if you choose to buy (at no additional cost to you). In accordance with FTC guidelines, and the laws of the United States, this website’s affiliate disclaimer is clearly published on every page.
